How are you? How has your week been so far?
Mine has been a little full of bright and colourful giraffes – as you can see. Just look at these little cuties! I’ve had so much fun making these up, mainly for stock (the elephant one had already been sold). I love pulling out my fabric, mixing and matching and making new toys, that even the littlest people can enjoy safely.
A Taggy Giraffe is what I like to call them – and the irony of them covered in other animals, is no coincidence. I love that a giraffe could be covered in fish or elephants. Makes them even cuter, don’t you think? There are also Monkeys of course! I am thinking some monkey – covered Taggy Elephants might be nice too – or some whales…..so watch this space.
Babies LOVE colour, contrast and pattern. Once they are a little older and start to put everything in their mouths – they love TAGGYS! I carefully choose different textures, colours, widths and patterns of ribbon and binding to sew into these toys, as they help keep the interest of babies, from newborn to 6-9 months. They are sewn with great care and double seams to make them extra tough. Once baby is done exploring, these little fellas can be thrown in the washing machine – just for you Mums & Dads.
The red, nautical themed fabric I found in Australia just had to come back to Hamburg with me. It’s such a Hamburg looking fabric, I’m sure most Hamburgers will think I bought it here. So that Taggy Giraffe is a little tribute to this beautiful city we now call home.
Three of the them have the same fabric back and front – but I decided to do one with two different fabrics combined. So the fish and the monkeys are on the same giraffe. I’d love to know what you think! Which would you prefer? Same fabric both sides – or a bit of variation? Any other animal requests? I have so much wonderful fabric waiting in the studio.
If you’re interested in any of these giraffes, they will be in my Etsy Shop soon – but to make sure you don’t miss out, a simple email will hold him for you. You can find me here : email@example.com
There will be more to come!
Have a lovely week!
