What’s Up Wednesday : To see or not to see?

Gus and Ollie Hamburg

I have always loved taking photos. Snippets & moments to be remembered. A glance, a smile, a space, a colour. It often takes me a little longer to get anywhere because I inevitably need to stop and take a photo or two.

My darling husband is particularly patient with me, when it comes to this – I know so many are not. Often waiting until I get the shot, before we move on, even after I tell him “I’ll catch up” and I’m not just talking about photographing our coffees before we destroy the crema (although I am guilty of this occasionally too). Studio Life : Process

Gus and Ollie, handmade in Hamburg, Germany. Happy socksThe other day, a friend of mine (an IT expert) said ‘A client of mine recently questioned me charging my minimum 50€ for one hour, because he saw it only took me a few minutes to fix a bug on his website. So I explained, that 1 hour was the minimum charge, because even though it only took me a few minutes….it actually took a university degree + 15 years experience + those few minutes, to be able to fix those bugs effectively and efficiently.’

Which got me thinking, putting a price on one’s process, journey or experience is really difficult. Continue reading “Studio Life : Process”

Travel : Happy New Year

Coming into this New Year, I am reminded how lucky I am to be able to call two amazing cities home. On average, I spend 10 months a year in Hamburg, Germany and 2 months a year mainly in Melbourne, Australia – during Summer.

Summer holidays for these lucky monkies.

Hamburgers ( mostly Germans in general) dream about going to Australia – although can not fathom a flight soooooo long! While most Australians often spend many years saving their pennies – and their holidays, in order to visit Europe – never once mentioning how long the flight will be! Travel : Merry Christmas

Gus and Ollie Christmas 2013

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas from the extended Gus and Ollie family and I.

Thank you all for making 2013 a wonderful year – which included raising much needed funds for the Australian Red Cross – aiding the Tasmanian Bush Fire Appeal earlier this year & another donation coming up in January – to support the relief effort in the Philippines and surrounding areas, after Typhoon Haiyan.

Further sales until December 31st, 2013, will be added to that total.

It’s been so lovely meeting so many new friends and customers both online and at markets. I just love hearing from you and trying to fulfil your every wish.

If you’re travelling over this holiday season, stay safe.

See you all in 2014!!
