As you all know, it’s been a bumper week in Instagram-land. I simply love to capture mini-moments as they happen throughout my day and share them with you. They could be in the studio, walking home, a new creation, a yummy lunch or snapshot of life in Hamburg. It’s a moment by moment, instant photo album to look back on – how cool is that!
Those of you who follow me, will also know I once again participated in the #fmsphotoaday challenge, created by the lovely Fat Mum Slim. Each week, Chantelle creates a great list of photo prompts to help capture the weeks moments. A little inspiration if you will – teaming up with a talented artist or designer each week – to create a new graphic for each list.
As soon as I saw this week’s colourful and playful design by Irene Tan aka: Missy Minzy, it was more than enough for me to want to participate once again.
Can you believe today is already the end of this year’s 17th week! Crazy huh!
Day 20 : This happened.
Sarah over at Zinc Moon blogged her adventures to Sydney with her sock-kitty Mackie! The photos are just adorable. It is so wonderful to see some of the adventures my creations are lucky enough to have. Huge thanks to Sarah for sharing Mackie’s adventures with us all. So much fun!
Day 21 : Season
For this prompt, how could I go past the stunning Springtime blossoms that have been popping and blooming all week? This is a photo I took on a gorgeous Spring day here in Hamburg – no filters. Nothing. This is what this stunning blossom tree really looked like – and yes – that was the colour of the sky. Incredible isn’t it!
Day 22 : Mess
This is my mess. It may not look all that messy to some – but it’s my mess. Arms and legs, ears and tails everywhere – waiting to be sewn onto their respective owners – sometimes I sew a tail on as an arm – sometimes a arm becomes a tail. I usually realise pretty quickly – which involves getting out my ‘quick unpick’ and carefully undoing my mistake – to return the appropriate appendage to it’s rightful location.
Day 23 : Snack
This didn’t happen this week. On day 23 my phone decided to go bung! I spent a good part of the next 24 hours trying to salvage lost photos and apps with a malfunctioning micro SD card in my phone – only to have to reformat it, in order for it to work again. Reinstalled all the apps – including Instagram again – grrrr. Which ultimately meant there was no chance of documenting a snack for today. Technology and it’s perks!
So instead, the next day I postage this photo from my My Ride Home post – such a gorgeous afternoon to ride home!
April 25th is a very special day on the Australian calendar – Anzac Day. It marks the day our Australian troops landed on the beaches on Gallipoli in Turkey, during the First World War. 2015 marked the 100 year Anniversary of this devastating day. I could not let this day pass, without a mention – and a nod to a very special handmade project.
Two Melbourne based fibre artists Lynn Berry and Margaret Knight pledged to hand knit and crochet 5000 red poppies over a year ago to commemorate this day. After one radio interview, they had sparked the imagination of many all over Australia & the world! Ending in the accumulation of over 250,000+ handmade poppies being collected, attached to netting and spread over the steps of Federation Square, in the middle of Melbourne. A truly incredible sight and one not to be missed, if you happened to be in Melbourne this week. You can read more about this amazing project here.
Day 24 : Fill the frame
Who better to fill the frame on this day – than Phoebe! The latest Sock Monkey to join my Gus & Ollie clan! What a cutie.
Day 25 : I sat here
This was my view late Saturday night at the 50th birthday party of a very good friend of ours. It was a fantastic night of music, fun, laughs and dancing – one worth noting and remembering.
Day 26 : 4 o’clock
With a visitor in town staying with us this weekend, we felt a relaxing wander through our beloved neighbourhood was in order. And even on this rainy, grey Spring day – it didn’t disappoint. This was my chosen image for the day – a splash of colour to delight all the senses! What a treat, to stumble upon such treasures, while wandering the streets. I can’t tell you how nice it is to see colour springing from every direction at the moment, after such a long grey winter.
I can’t finish this post without noting these two little gems. The view from my desk at the studio & Sock Monkey Bobby keeping a watchful eye over his new best friend. So sweet.
