Isn’t that how the saying goes? Well, that’s what I’ve been having in the studio of late…although in a much more literal sense, than what the saying implies.
You see, a friend of mine contacted me recently and asked if she could commission me to make her a Sock Whale. She is off to a baby shower with a cute Whale theme and thought it would be perfectly fitting to gift a handmade, one off Whale, to the impending arrival…which has already been deemed a sweet girl.
So after viewing the invitation, googling images of real and make believe Whales, I set about working out how to turn a pair (or more) socks into a happy, friendly little Whale friend. I knew it couldn’t look like a fish….and I didn’t want it to be too simple either. And you’d be surprised how different she looks, when the eyes are placed in different locations! So here is the end result! My friend fell in love with her instantly, which I’m so happy about and I can only hope this special little girl, who isn’t too far away from this world loves her too.
Thanks for the challenge Brenda, it was a Whale of a time! *pun intended 😉

What are you making right now?
Are you challenging yourself to make something new?
Hope you had a lovely weekend,
